Bedroom #2: "Hannah McCoy Hamlin -Seamtress" Room featuring an amazing 1850s heavily hand-carved detailed Chinese Wedding Bed Canopy Bed Ancient Chinese Custom includes preparation of the traditional Wedding bed. The groom was responsible for the installation of the bridal bed on the day before the wedding. A ‘good luck woman’ or ‘good luck man’, that is a man or women with many children and living spouses, were selected to install a newly purchased bed. After the bed was in place and dressed in new sheets, children were invited onto the bed as an omen of fertility. For the same reason, the bed was scattered with red dates, oranges, lotus seeds, peanuts, pomegranates and other fruits. We skipped the dates, seeds and fruit.
